Methyl isobutyl carbinol (MIBC) is an organic chemical compound, a colorless stable liquid with a pungent alcohol odor. It has limited solubility in water, but is miscible with most organic solvents. It has good solvent power for dissolving oils, resins and cellulose. The main uses of MIBC are as a frother in mineral flotation and in the production of lubricant oil additives.

DANGER: Methyl isobutyl carbinol is a highly flammable liquid and vapor. It is harmful if swallowed, inhaled, or in contact with skin. It may cause serious eye irritation or damage to neural tissue/eyes from exposure. Methyl isobutyl carbinol may cause drowsiness or dizziness. It may also cause genetic defects or cancer.
