Also known as Isopropanol and rubbing alcohol, isopropyl alcohol is a colorless, flammable chemical compound with a strong odor. It is in the chemical category of secondary alcohols with an alcohol carbon atom bonded with two other carbon atoms. It is one of the two approved alcohols permitted as an active ingredient in hand sanitizer alongside ethanol. It is an excellent solvent, effective at dissolving non-polar compounds.

DANGER: Isopropyl alcohol is a highly flammable liquid and vapor. It may displace oxygen and cause rapid suffocation. Isopropyl alcohol can cause serious eye irritation upon contact. It may cause drowsiness or dizziness. May cause reproductive problems. Repeated or prolonged exposure can produce kidney, liver, skin, or central nervous system damage.
