Description

Hexane is an alkane hydrocarbon. It is a solvent made from crude oil through a distillation process. It is an inert solvent, which makes it ideal for use in manufacturing and production.

DANGER: Hexane is an extremely flammable liquid and vapor. The vapor may cause a flash fire. Short-term exposure to air contaminated with hexane affects the nervous system and can cause dizziness, nausea, headaches, and even unconsciousness. Chronic exposure can cause more severe damage to the nervous system. Hexane can enter the lungs and cause damage. If swallowed, it may cause severe abdominal pain and affect the respiratory system, resulting in shortness of breath, coughing, burning of the mouth, throat or chest, and even chemical pneumonitis. A possible risk exists of impaired fertility. Personal protective equipment is recommended whenever handling hexane.
